Facebook began rolling out its “Offers” service to for all business pages this week. The Offers service allows a business to place special offers in the feeds of customers who have previously “liked” that business. The offer will be accompanied by a “Get Offer” button that will deploy an email to the email address associated with the customer’s Facebook account. That email can then be printed out or shown to the business in order to redeem the offer. Offers can also be redeemed by customers directly on their smartphones using the Facebook app.
Facebook has aggressively been pushing out new features for businesses and advertisers in recent months. The company had mentioned the Offers service at the end of February in their fMC Live Keynote address to investors, marketers, and businesses. In that presentation, Facebook revealed new tools for businesses to use their Facebook pages to promote advertising. It also announced it would be putting advertising into the Facebook app for smartphones.
Prior to today, Facebook’s Offers service was available only to Facebook’s managed advertising clients. Facebook’s Help Center had a page up for “best practices” when using Offers, but the service remained exclusive. The page was recently updated and now contains a plethora of information for Facebook users, business page administrators, and those who want to design Offers.
The Facebook Help Center page now has a video explaining how Offers works. It is directed toward Facebook users and encourages them to “Like” businesses, brands, and organizations in order to receive more offers:
