Rumor has it that Apple will be expanding the number of colors for its iPhone line, though in what capacity remains to be seen.
A report out from MG Siegler at TechCrunch (perhaps one of the most well-known Apple fans in tech blogging), says, “Yes, there will be a gold iPhone.”
He seems pretty sure, citing multiple sources.
There have been rumors about a gold colored iPhone circulating over the course of the past few weeks. There have been parts leaks and mock-ups showing what it could look like. Here’s one from MacBoutiq.fr (via MacRumors):
Siegler suggests that Apple could offer the color for the rumored “iPhone 5C” (the cheaper model) and keep the classic colors for the higher-end version of the device, noting that there have been rumors about that launching in a wider variety of colors. As he points out, this wouldn’t be the first time Apple has offered a gold-colored device. They used to offer this iPod Mini:

The iPhone 5S is expected to be revealed on September 10th, and the “5C” could be as well. This may only be released in international markets like China.
