Gwen Stefani called Blake Shelton her muse last week after he took to Twitter to share a photo showing he’d “gone overboard” and bought several copies of her new album.
Shelton showed support for Gwen in the best way possible, sharing his favorite song from the new album and letting his fans know he was “freaking out” when it hit number one on iTunes. The couple exchanged quite a bit of PDA via social media and Gwen even admitted that her new song, “Rare” (Blake’s favorite), is about him.

Stefani’s album, This Is What The Truth Feels Like, began as a way for the singer to deal with the aftermath of her split from husband Gavin Rossdale, who was allegedly unfaithful with one of their nannies. She said in an interview last year that she went straight to writing songs after she found out, churning out enough for two albums, but she was warned by her producers that an entire album of heartbreak songs might be too much. That’s when she began to let her blossoming relationship with Blake Shelton inspire her.
“My life is so extreme right now. My life basically blew up in my face. And now I’m in this new life, and it’s pretty awesome I have to say — I’m so inspired and being back on the show, and just being in a new place. Everything just feels new. I just feel inspired. I don’t know how else to describe it,” Gwen Stefani said in November.
Shelton and Stefani famously met during their time together on The Voice, but when Christina Aguilera came back after her maternity leave, Gwen was supposed to step down. However, Shelton says he had other plans.
“I looked at my phone, like somebody from NBC said, ‘Hey, you need to pick a mentor for this season.’ I am like ‘Hey, you want to be my mentor this season?’ She’s like, ‘Sure.’ I said ‘OK, Gwen said she will do it,'” Shelton said.
