IKEA just introduced UPPLEVA, a completely new range that integrates smart TV and a sound system with furniture. UPPLEVA brings beauty and functionality to the living room by eliminating the web of wires that diminish the ambiance of many living rooms.

You can purchase UPPLEVA in Stockholm, Milan, Paris, Gdansk and Berlin in June 2012. During autumn 2012 UPPLEVA is available in all of the stores in Sweden, Italy, France, Poland, Denmark, Spain, Norway and Portugal , and during spring 2013 in even more countries.

UPPLEVA comes with a five year guarantee that is included in the price.

Some people on Twitter said that they are sold on the model:

The cabinets are fully customizable and come in a range of styles, sizes, and colors.

While IKEA is focused on delivering a modern sleek look to their TVs, retro televisions like the Philco Predicta are becoming the prized possessions of collectors across the nation.

The science and romance of the Predicta legend has been resurrected by Telstar; the company is currently manufacturing these beautiful TVs with new parts in the U.S.A.

I wish smart TVs in retro cabinets reached the mainstream market.
