Love & Hip Hop reality star Mendeecees Harris was released from jail yesterday on a $600,000 bond package, according to Democrat & Chronicle. He has been in jail since January 2013.
Harris is suspected of being involved with a New York City drug trafficking ring which transported cocaine and heroin into Rochester. Harris’ brother, Tyrus Harris, pleaded guilty to charges on Monday. Tyrus Harris faces five to seven years in prison. Ronald Walker, also a major player in the drug ring, was sentenced to ten years for drug trafficking.
$200,000 of Harris’ bail was posted by his fiancĂ©e Yandy Smith, who is a major star on Love & Hip Hop. Smith is a hip hop talent manager by profession. In fact, she was featured on Billboard Magazine’s 30-under-30 top executives list.
Smith will be responsible for the $200,000 she posted for his bail if Harris attempts to avoid trial, but Smith said “Mendeecees is a very good guy” and was more concerned with the effect of Harris’ absence on their children.
While Harris has been in jail for the past year, Smith has been taking care of their son and Harris’ son from a previous relationship. She says “the hardest part is just watching the kids growing up without him.”
Harris told TMZ that the first thing he did after getting out of jail was pick up Chinese food and candy. Smith and Harris then made their way back to New York City from Rochester.
Harris posted to Facebook shortly after his release.
