Rhonda Adkins, the wife of country singer Trace Adkins, filed for divorce in Tennessee earlier this week after 16 years of marriage.
According to the documents from the Williamson County, Tenn., court, Rhonda Adkins cited “irreconcilable differences.”
Trace and Rhonda Adkins have three daughters – MacKenzie, Brianna, and Trinity. She is asking for custody of their daughters and for the singer to pay child support, in addition to her legal fees. Rhonda also asked to be named as the sole beneficiary on Trace’s life insurance policy. Trace also has two other daughters from a previous marriage.
Trace, a Celebrity Apprentice winner, entered rehab for alcohol abuse in January after a physical altercation with an Adkins impersonator who sang one of his songs on karaoke on the Norwegian Pearl. He was headlining a seven-day country cruise on the ship at the time of the incident.
After only a two-week stay, the Ladies Love Country Boys singer left the rehab in Florida in early February to be with his father, Aaron, in Louisiana, during his last days. Aaron Adkins was ill and passed away at the age of 71. Trace returned to rehab to complete his treatment after his father’s death.
Trace had been sober for the past twelve years after he completed a stay in a rehab facility in 2002.
