Oh, Twitterverse. Sigh.
This morning, RIPMadonna was trending on Twitter. Because Madonna is dead? Of course not. She’s totally alive. But that doesn’t stop the Twitterverse from spreading rumors. Fake death rumors on Twitter are becoming about as common as men on Google+.
Anyone looking at the RIPMadonna tweets can easily tell that Madonna isn’t actually dead. However, there appears to be some debate over where the rumors came from. Some are blaming Lady Gaga fans. Some are blaming Will Smith.
Are we sure Twitter isn’t the social network for kids now?
Don’t worry adults, I know there are some of you on there too. That includes myself.
So, Will Smith being blamed (even by blogs) appears to come from this tweet:
RIP Madonna. You aren’t dead, but you’re career is (in this picture). twitter.com/LifeAsWillSmit…
— Will Smith (@LifeAsWillSmith) February 18, 2012
Hopefully enough people out there realize that this is not actually Will Smith, but a parody account, which is actually made clear in the bio section.
The reason “RIP Madonna” is trending, is because Will Smith apparently said “RIP Madonna’s career.” Now we’re getting the blame…
Pointing your fingers to Gaga’s fans that they started the RIP Madonna things is so rude . It’s Will Smith that started that sh*t .
No wonder Madonna prefers Google+.
