Good news everybody … Rob Dyrdek is here to stay!
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Dydrek has signed a new multi-year contract with the Viacom-owned cable network MTV.
Under the deal, Dyrdek and his company Super Jacket will be part of the MTV initiative, and along with carrying on his current programs, Dyrdek will also be creating a new pilot for MTV.
Last September, MTV released a statement saying that Rob’s Fantasy Factory would be ending after its sixth season. However, with the new deal, Fantasy Factory has been renewed for a seventh season.
Also, the competition cooking series Snack-Off and the viral video series Ridiculousness will be making a comeback.
“Rob Dyrdek is an essential part of MTV. From Rob & Big to Fantasy Factory, Ridiculousness and now Snack-Off, Rob has an undeniable appeal to millennials,” said Susanne Daniels, MTV’s president of programming.
“He is a creative force with a unique ability to connect with the audience — whether he is in front of or behind the camera,” Daniels added. “We are truly thrilled to continue our long and successful relationship with Rob.”
Dyrdek says he is excited to continue his relationship with MTV as well. “MTV has a been a great partner over the years. I’m truly grateful for the platform they’ve provided for me to create and refine compelling, entertaining media at the highest level,” Dyrdek said. “This next chapter will allow myself, Shane Nickerson, and the rest of the Super Jacket team to scale our style of production — inspiring people and making them laugh. We look forward to continually delivering amazing content for years to come.”
Dyrdek’s other MTV shows include: The Real World, The Challenge, 16 and Pregant, Teen Mom 2, Snooki and JWoww, Catfish and Ke$ha: My Crazy Beautiful Life.
