With the release of Samsung’s Galaxy S25 just around the corner, the latest report suggests the company may offer users a free Gemini Advanced subscription.
Gemini Advanced is Google’s most powerful version of the Gemini AI model, providing a host of features and abilities that put it in the same league as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude. Google already offers direct Pixel buyers a free subscription, but it appears Samsung may be joining the party.
The excellent folks over at Android Authority have done one of their deep-dive APK teardowns in search of potential upcoming features. According to AA, the latest Google app, v15.52.37 beta, has several strings of text that hint at Samsung’s upcoming offering.
<string name="assistant_zero_state_google_one_samsung_eft_upsell_body_nine_months">Your device gives you access to a {nine}-month subscription to Gemini Advanced, with access to our most capable AI models, at no cost</string>
<string name="assistant_zero_state_google_one_samsung_eft_upsell_body_one_year">Your device gives you access to a {one} year subscription to Gemini Advanced, with access to our most capable AI models, at no cost</string>
<string name="assistant_zero_state_google_one_samsung_eft_upsell_body_six_months">Your device gives you access to a {six}-month subscription to Gemini Advanced, with access to our most capable AI models, at no cost</string>
<string name="assistant_zero_state_google_one_samsung_eft_upsell_body_three_months">Your device gives you access to a {three}-month subscription to Gemini Advanced, with access to our most capable AI models, at no cost</string>
The revelation is good news for Google, as the company continues to play catch-up to OpenAI and Anthropic. Samsung giving users a free subscription to Google’s AI model will help move more people—including many first-time users—to adopt Gemini as their AI of choice.
