In the wake of Google killing off its Stadia gaming platform, the VP that oversaw the project has left the company.
Phil Harrison was a Google VP in charge of the Stadia project. Unfortunately, despite its promise, Stadia never lived up to Google’s expectations and the company announced in September that it was “winding down” the service.
Harrison’s LinkedIn bio says he is still a Vice President at Google. Looking at his experience, however, shows his tenure at Google ended in April 2023.
There’s no indication of what or where Harrison’s next role will be. Given his long history in the gaming industry, including head of Microsoft’s Xbox business in Europe, it’s a safe bet he won’t stay unemployed for long.
